Agreed, in front of a sellout home crowd with tourney implications on the line, Villanova easily defeats the #1 team in the "American." How can you watch that and think the "American" deserves more than 2 bids max. Their "top" team has now lost to Villanova and Butler.

NOVA, PROV, HALL, SJU, STONY BROOK
so far 1-2 for the night. Stony Brook let me down

I mean, look at Xavier last year. They saw Cincy late in the season, and went on a nice run in March after that. You see different players than you are used to- with different opponents that you haven't seen on tape so it's very similar for the tourney.
Totally agree especially with how familiar teams are with each other in the BE. Xavier has played UC like you said and a few years ago they did it with Memphis late in the year. It might not be the easiest thing working around 2 conference schedules but it can be done.

Several weeks ago Andy Katz has Tony Bennett on his podcast where Tony mentioned the UVA return trip to Villanova next season would be during their ACC "bye" week which means it will likely be in late January to mid-February.
Once the Friars got down last night Dunn did everything in his power to try to instigate something that would get his team back in the game. I don't mean that in a basketball way. Dunn ran his mouth at James Farr, pushed Jalen Reynolds whenever he could, and generally flounced around like an offended diva. If the gamesmanship of JP Macura is a scalpel, Dunn's was a crudely wielded machete.
