Wow, Jessie Govan was a monster today. He deserved a better result. And I'd say Georgetown got a little excessive with the fouling at the end, no?

Agreed, in front of a sellout home crowd with tourney implications on the line, Villanova easily defeats the #1 team in the "American." How can you watch that and think the "American" deserves more than 2 bids max. Their "top" team has now lost to Villanova and Butler.

Lost is a mild adjective to describe what Villanova and Xavier did.

If UConn and Cincy take care of business, have no bad losses, and lose in the conference tourney, they both should/will go. Then the conference tourney champ goes...

And the thing is, the way it's looking, UConn and Cincy will quite possibly play in the SF. So it would be a conference title game with say Temple or Tulsa vs UConn or Cincy. With Temple and Tulsa both having already beaten UConn and Temple having beaten Cincy(Tulsa plays Cincy tomorrow).

want to hear the funniest thing about St John's. They've been in the RPI between 190-205 pretty much all conference year long.... even with losing....

they then win last night. And now their RPI is at #211. 7 spots lower than on Monday..... lowest point I think of the entire season.

That DBag was saying Nova shouldn't be a 1 or a 2 seed in the NCAAs. He basically said the entire conference has some good teams but no great or elite teams and pretty much we were overrated.

so far 1-2 for the night. Stony Brook let me down :(

Just saw this and thought of you...
With a win by St. John's, the nation's longest losing streak (16) and win streak (Stony Brook - 18) end on same day.

They saw Cincy late in the season, and went on a nice run in March after that. You see different players than you are used to- with different opponents that you haven't seen on tape so it's very similar for the tourney.

Totally agree especially with how familiar teams are with each other in the BE. Xavier has played UC like you said and a few years ago they did it with Memphis late in the year. It might not be the easiest thing working around 2 conference schedules but it can be done.

Several weeks ago Andy Katz has Tony Bennett on his podcast where Tony mentioned the UVA return trip to Villanova next season would be during their ACC "bye" week which means it will likely be in late January to mid-February.

2 things. 1st off- great for Nova. 2nd off- great for Fox to get a game like that late season.

This is pretty amazing stuff coming from a writer who covers Xavier, of all teams.

Once the Friars got down last night Dunn did everything in his power to try to instigate something that would get his team back in the game. I don't mean that in a basketball way. Dunn ran his mouth at James Farr, pushed Jalen Reynolds whenever he could, and generally flounced around like an offended diva. If the gamesmanship of JP Macura is a scalpel, Dunn's was a crudely wielded machete.
