Not you, you've been great. But there was a Cincinnati fan that appeared here a month ago to talk trash, so he pissed a lot of us off. He vanished after they lost to Butler. Also, the csnbbs AAC site was in attack mode 24-7 against the Big East, and that also pissed a lot of us off too.

What billyjack said, it's not you. We get our share of AAC homers who do the typical drive by trolling, taking shots then leaving. Plus we have to deal with our resident AAC homer who continues to pretend he's a fan of Georgetown, while taking any and every opportunity to throw shade at the BE. Yeah if you want to see hate go to csnbbs aac board and mention the BE and watch the hate flow.

some of the disdain stems from the fact that the C7 bashing began while that site was still Big East board. It was mostly fans of 2 or 3 schools that were posting trash about the C7. they werent even in the BE yet and they were using terms like parasites and IMO anti Catholic bigotry. That is what drove so many away from that board

it became a hostile, toxic environment even before any conference additions were on the horizon. there was discord emanating from fans from fellow conference schools. which is one reason why I despise running down fellow conference schools on message boards.

i lurked here for a while before joining but i feel like gosports1 was one of the last members from CSNbbs to arrive here. i thought he was just holding out; not that he didn't know about it.

AAC has had 12 games they've lost by 4 points or fewer.
BE has had 12 games they've won by 4 points or fewer.

if those 12 games go differently for either conference- things could be so different. but like what Bill Parcells says- you are what your record says you are.

again, completely arbitrary numbers pulled by stever to make his point. 4 pt margin has no significance in basketball. it means it was a two possession game. (which means it wasn't so close at the end) 3 pt margin has significance since it probably means it came down to last sec.

The most hysterical thing in my mind is the perception that the AAC schools are trying to fight - that they aren't Conference USA, they are the best conference outside the power five, that they are deserving to be a power conference, etc. In fighting that perception, they chose not only a new conference name that is a ripoff/extension of Conference USA (the American Athletic Conference), taking the exact same color schemes (red and blue), they also have nine (of eleven full conference members) current schools that were in Conference USA just 10 years ago (Cincinnati, USF, Memphis, ECU, Tulane, Tulsa, SMU, Houston, and UCF). They are an rebranded Conference USA in every sense, with the lone addition of UConn.

From a marketing/branding perspective, that decision was one of the most puzzling in recent memory.

Well, it's 4 points or fewer, so that includes all one-possession games, but 4-point games also usually occur when a team had to resort to fouling in a one-possession game. So, still a close loss.

I mean, sometimes a 4-point final margin results from a meaningless field goal as time runs out in a 6- or 7-point game but usually not.

The AAC is in some trouble. Cincinnati had two heart breaking losses to top 10 teams. Jones hits a tough buzzer beater and the Nader kid from Iowa State who was 3 for his last 16 hits a corner three to beat us. We are 4 points away from being a top 15 team. I am not worried about us making the tournament.

Things are getting UGLY for the American Conference. Cincinnati got absolutely destroyed last night to San Diego State 42-7 in the Hawaii Bowl. That makes the AAC 0-3 in bowl games thus far this season - with losses against the MAC (Toldeo), C-USA (Western Kentucky) and the MWC (SDSU). For a conference that brands itself as the king of the G5, losing important games to them in nationally televised games does nothing but hurt perception. Couple these results with the lack of basketball success for the conference, including appearing like the league will only have 1-2 bids (again) and it's a Christmas miracle that the C7 got out when it did.

Make that 0-4 for the AAC football juggernaut in Bowl season so far. UConn just lost to Marshall, scoring a whopping 10 points. They're staring down the barrel of a possible 0'fer in the Bowls.
