I have no way to try it myself but I have heard that if you have an Internet only plan from one of the (some?) of the authorized cable companies the FSGO and WatchESPN apps will work. I have watched both using my credentials (AT&T Uverse) and I set my father-in-law up with his phone and iPad using his Time-Warner credentials. I can neither confirm nor deny that I might have used his credentials last season when AT&T and Fox had their little pissing contest going on which resulted in virtually nothing but darts being shown during BigEast games and NASCAR Xfinity races.

I did not use 99% of my cable stations. I was paying an outrageous amount for the 1%. I cut the cord.

I tried to cut the cord a few years back and found that each time I wanted to watch a St. John's game, I went to a sports bar with my daughter(s) and spent about $50 per person to have a meal and a couple of beers. Cable became the cheaper option again.

ESPN killing Grantland now.

Grantland, a sports and pop culture website started by ESPN in 2011, will suspend publishing, the company announced Friday.

"After careful consideration, we have decided to direct our time and energy going forward to projects that we believe will have a broader and more significant impact across our enterprise," ESPN said in a statement.

The writer thinks a Fox v ESPN bidding war will garner at least $2B for the B1G, saying NBC and CBS will not play. Hmmm.
CBS already has a small piece ($72M x 6 yrs) of the current deal.

Fox already has 51% of the Big Ten Network and they do not appear to be greedy. The writer guesses that Disney may impose a ceiling on Espn's bids? If so that cap could be a deciding factor.

IMHO the B1G gets an incremental increase due to a contracting media market and current costs realities - maybe up to $1.5B over 10 years...but definitely Not double the current contract. Fox may attempt to "run up" the price, then fall back to take the CBS piece, as they already have the BTN, Pac-12, Big-12, BE. If ESPN over bids on this one it could be the straw that breaks their back. We shall see this spring.

The trick is having a login for someone else's cable (such as having set up the billing for my grandfather :D ) then streaming the games off Fox Sports Go. It streams to my TV via chromecast reasonably well. I may try slingbox for the December-February time frame when there are good games on nightly.

Per the other article, it is nice to see us mentioned between the Big 12 and Pac 12. Another reinforcement to the masses that we are a major conference.

An excerpt from the article:

This restructuring is coming at a time when all of our businesses are hitting new heights, which I know may be confusing. Last night’s Grease: Live on FOX was a groundbreaking and spectacular production. The premiere of the X-Files, made by Twentieth Century Fox Television for FBC, was watched by a global audience of more than 50 million people. Fox Sports is home to many of the world’s biggest sporting events including last week’s NFC Championship game, this month’s Daytona 500, the next World Cup and next year’s Super Bowl. American Crime Story, which is produced by Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions and premieres on FX tomorrow, is one of the year’s most anticipated new series. Our new partnership with National Geographic has made us the world leader in visual factual entertainment across all platforms. These are just a few of the highlights across our business that, when taken together, make this an incredibly exciting creative time at the company. It is important, however, that we organize ourselves for tomorrow rather than resting on the laurels of today, and the best time to do that is when we are in a position of strength.

Well managed companies tend to take proactive action. They appear to be adjusting for the future, not conducting a fire sale out of panic. You should be a little more careful.
