Forecasts are just silly. To try to predict what a teams record will be in early December is useless. Play the games and judge from there.

"This year, Buzz needs the win more than Bo. Marquette is approaching desperation in its quest for the resume-boosting nonconference victories that will pay off on Selection Sunday.

A series of mishaps in holiday tournaments diminished the Big East’s buzz. The conference’s contenders failed in recent nonconference matchups that would have enhanced their respective NCAA tournament hopes/seeds.

Marquette was pegged as the preseason favorite to win the new Big East. And the Golden Eagles are certainly talented enough to fulfill that prophecy. But they’re struggling right now after losing to Arizona State and San Diego State in two of their last four games."

Yes, Marquette is certainly talented. Enough to fulfill the preseason prophecy, but they were never the team to beat because they have too many players who are adjusting to new roles at key positions as well new players who are being integrated into the program.

OTOH, I wouldn't give up on them too soon because there's no telling where they will be a month or two from now with all that talent. I just thought it was unrealistic to expect them to come out of the gate real fast at the start. It's hard to know yet what they will be one way or another..

Marquette got a lot of attention due to the deep runs they've made into the tournament the past few years, but it was overlooked that they were the same team who exited from the big East tourney in the first round after tying for the regular season title. I don't think they were ever as good as they were rated, butI, don't think that they are necessarily the big disappointment that they might appear at this point. all the factors that led people to pick them high are still present. It was just premature to rate them high early based on all that. They really needed to be given time and they still do.

The Big East has been successful enough in the first month that any teams that mount a run through the conference will have plenty of credibility when it comes to season's end.

I'd agree with your last statement. But, I would also say that we've struggled enough to where any team that finishes 9-9 is going to have a pretty big challenge in making the tournament. Right now, the only team that is probably safe is Villanova.
