OT but I tuned into TT vs Gonzaga game just in time to see Owens block Hachimura.... what SJU would've looked like with Tariq is fascinating!

We would've found a way to mess Owens up. Owens has a much better surrounding team than he would've had here. By himself he's nothing special but when he has a good team around him he can produce. Players play differently on different teams. We cannot develop players and we don't have a plan for them. It's just streetball.

Thanks for the post. Sorry to come off as harsh. What I get confused about is you post this, and then you talk about Matt A is your best recruiter and that he is leaving. I don't think Matt A is a good recruiter. I think he is horribly over-rated and the fact he only goes after transfers and JUCOs has not served you well. I would be happy as hell the guy is leaving. A good recruiter gets kids out of high school, Matt didn't. Bring in a guy who sees the value of getting guys out of high school (AND STOP WASTING TIME ON THE TOP 30 KIDS), let's say a 3 man class that consists of 1 4 star player, and 2 3 star players, those kids stick around, buy in, develop, and are still there by the time they are Seniors to not only play but provide leadership, that is how you build a program. A CONSISTENT program.

That is why I think Travis Steele could really be something special. He brings in classes like he did last year every year, Xavier will be a Top 20 team dancing for the foreseeable future. Trust me.

Best of luck to SJU. It still looks like a bumpy road. You change your philosophy and the results will happen.

There are whispers on Twitter that are saying Mullin could step down in the near future. I would not be shocked at all if that was the case.

Rumors that Mullin negotiating resignation and SJ may hire Hurley afterward. Hope it's true.

Rumor. Which means it probably isn't true.

I'm guessing it is true. Mullin's wife was going at it on twitter with disgruntled fans. Johnnies just lost the only coach that put any effort at all into recruiting, which includes Mullin himself. Team got worse as the season progressed. Fan base has turned on the local hero, who previously walked on water. Wouldn't be surprised if Mullin has had enough, he never seemed truly comfortable in this job.

Rumors may be true or may not be true. It's not one way or the other.

I'd be thrilled if these rumors are true. We need a new HC, not simply new ACs who will drag this failed experiment out longer.

Hurley would be an incredible hire, but I'm not going to get my hopes up. I'd be happy with pretty much anybody at this point.

CM brings the whole "not recruiting" thing to a new level (not even contacting recruits who sign LOIs, not showing up to official visits, etc). With Matt gone that has now caught up with him. Stepping aside would absolutely be the best move for all parties.
