This seems to happen every year and most of it originates from our resident doom and gloom visitor from the AAC... the BE games / losses do not occur in a vacuum. So, yes, individual losses like SJU at home vs DePaul or Butler to X aren’t ideal, we have to realize that other teams out there struggling for a bid are putting up even worse losses. Cause loses to 120 GA Tech at home and Cinncinnati loses to 200+ ECU. We are falling into the trap yet again here in early/mid January of making assumptions for the rest of the season. Lots of BB yet to be played. The good news is that there are no poison teams in the league this year. Not one team over 101 in the NET. So unlike a potential loss to a team like ECU, losses to DePaul and G’town won’t sting nearly as much.

I believe every team is 93 or better in the NET now rounded out by DePaul.

Georgetown is 101.

DePaul... take 2 of their 4 collapses away and we're talking solidly in the bubble. What a story that would've been, and 3rd season in a row for a Chicago area school to make history.

Their schedule though would have held them back. It's worse than St John's.

I had hoped for a 4-0 start, but we got a 1-0 start, then smoked in the next 3. Sumthin' ain't rite in Omaha...and it smells like malcoaching. I'm just holdin' my breath til I get bluer still. ;)

tough one GTMO... being down in personnel definitely hurt you guys. Glad we escaped your house with a W.... such a tough place to play.

If Nova is a lock, then in my opinion we will have 4 or 5 teams in for sure, because I still think Nova ends up 4th or 5th. I realize they are 4-0, but that's against teams that are currently 6, 7, 9 & 10- in the conference, and their 2 road games are the 9 and 10 teams. They could even go to 5-0, since they get X at home next. Then they go to Butler, which is currently 8 in standings. That means their first 3 road games are against #8, 9 and 10. I don't know that I see them beating Butler on the road, but I haven't been sold on Butler this year either. Even if Nova gets to 6-0, things will get significantly harder from there on out, IMO. But, maybe they will prove me wrong.

You COULD be right of course, but I think it is going to come down to Marquette and Nova with Seton Hall next. Nova is no where near peaking and the newbies are just starting to come around. Again, could be wrong no question... but history shows they just might get better and have something to say about it.

Huh?

1). Do you really think that referencing 6, 7, 9 & 10 at this point in the season means anything? Are you suggesting that this is how teams are going to end up? Is a complete mental meltdown finish for CU vs Marq mean that CU is really a 1-3, 9th place team or closer 2-2 / middle of the pack in a balanced league?
2). IMO there are 4 very good teams in conference: VU, Marq, SHU and SJU. The other 6 are good but you could shuffle them up, re-deal them and not be wrong.

So your data points are a bit lacking, don’t you think? It’s one thing to say: “I’m not yet sold that Nova is going to win the league based on my gut feeling.” It’s another to try to back up a subjective opinion with cherry picked data.

But it’s all good. We’ve been doubted before and usually answer that bell more often than not.

Looks like someone is lashing out after a disappointing and frustrating week.

The BE has no locks at this moment, lock imo means you could nosedive and still dance. No teams meet that criteria in the BE right now. Nova has at least 15 more games to play, if they go 5-10(not gonna happen) that puts them at 18-14 and 99% out of the tourney. Same deal for Marquette.

Of course I know its only 4 games in, and no nothing to do with being bitter about the game. I predicted Nova around 4th or 5th beginning of the year, and I still think that. Of course Nova will improve. But, most of us started with more youth than normal this year and Nova isn't the only team that will continue to improve over the course of the season. They may prove me wrong, it happens. But, the fact that they are 4-0 right now hasn't changed my view of them. I just happen to think that there are several teams better than they are this year. Creighton is turning out to be much weaker mentally and physically than I thought we would be going into the year. We are now 0-4 at home against Power 6 teams plus Gonzaga this season, I believe. I don't think the game said as much about where Nova is as it said about CU.
