Golden,

I am glad you understand the importance for the League if St. Johns and DePaul become very competitive. I have been saying this all along.

Yes, Nova has won the National Championship....and may win it again this season. But that only helps Nova...not the League.

So it doesn't help the league at all that Nova won the National Championship??? You might want to ask any coach or anyone who covers the league if that's the case. Sorry, but anyone in the BE winning a National Champ helps the league immensely.

FWIW, McCollum mentioned that playing in the Big East was one of the things that attracted him to DePaul, and specifically mentioned Nova winning the National Championship.

Let me clarify one item....

Yes, Nova winning the Championship helps the entire Big East. Absolutely true! And they may win it all again this upcoming season.

However, if Nova stays on top by itself and other Big East members do not start knocking them off, then we will look like a mid-major conference that typically has its one team on top ALL the time.....even though Kansas is an exception. Most other major conferences rotate their better teams.

So Nova winning helps Nova first by far. Other Big East schools must make more noise in the conference and in the tournament.

But Nova is a good start! Please do not read anything more into this.

That is simply not true. In addition to Kansas, Duke and NC dominate the ACC and Kentucky the SEC.

This conference needs a perennial title contender to establish itself. If it's Nova, fine. The rest of us will just have to chase them. But we're far better with one bigtime program than 5-6 not quite top level programs.

and it looks like nova dominance isn't going to stop anytime soon.

they may have a better talent next year and their recruiting should only get better next few years aided by their championship run.

With reguards to Duke and UNC, 3/4 years the regular season champion has been someone other than those two and 4/5 years the tournament champion has been someone else. I agree Duke and UNC dominate during the tournament but Kansas and Kentucky are better examples of teams dominating their conference.

Per Jon Rothstein, Austin Grandstaff has committed to DePaul. Went to Ohio State at first, transferred to Oklahoma, was only in Norman for a couple months and then left (not sure why). Now he's landed at DePaul. MAJOR get for the Blue Demons.
