Who remembers this famous cheer about an all time AP great? "The Fly is open, let's go Peay!"

They didn't steal a bid. No one from the Ohio Valley was getting in without winning that conference tournament.

Belmont losing means they MUST go to the NIT. Stealing a bid for that tourney.

Right now Belmont, Bucknell, and High Point are NIT bound. North Florida is too, unless Stetson upsets Florida Gulf Coast. This impacts Creighton as that means there's 3-4 fewer spots already for the NIT. Creighton is going to be way on the bubble....

Also hurting Creighton- Va Tech probably clinched being ahead of them today by beating Miami.

Gotcha. I wasn't thinking about stealing NIT bids. Makes sense given this is an NIT thread.

And FGCU wins tonight, so North Florida Steals a NIT spot. 4 NIT spots taken. All 4 conference tourneys that have ended have seen a non #1 seed win the tourney(to include MVC and Wichita- assuming they're NCAA bound though).

tomorrow a huge night for Creighton/Marquette's NIT hopes....
Monmouth/Iona
Hofstra/UNC Wilmington
Chattanooga/E Tennessee St
in 3 tourney finals. Only Chattanooga swept the season series this year.

well 2 NIT bid thieves for sure tonight, and Monmouth is a TBA hinging on if they make the regular tourney. And Valpo is losing, so that would be #7 already, with no where near all the tourneys done.

Not that i disagree with the NIT format (i actually like that they give some reward to the regular season champ) but the NIT might be filled with alot of low/ midmajor teams this year.

I think you can forget the might. Got 7 now with Valpo gone, and still got a long ways to go. And that's if Monmouth and Wichita both make the regular tourney. We may be looking at half the NIT being auto bid teams.

And Wagner makes #8 tonight. 1/4 of the NIT field set and we still have 10+ tournaments to go where the champ loses and they are NIT bound.
