The announcers were saying on TV how it was still very difficult to travel in Newark and the area in general due to snow. The SJU bus apparently only arrived 30 mins before the game. Getting to Newark even from elsewhere in NJ for 7pm after work likely is a pain even without snow closing lanes/streets. Mass transit from Queens I'd imagine might as well be like an expedition to the alps for students. Just saying there are probably still extenuating factors affecting attendance.

Not taking a shot at St. John's or Seton Hall, but you have a young Seton Hall team who is on the bubble right now, playing a traditional, local, Big East rival in St. John's who plays in a stadium which is about 15 miles away, and that is the turnout? I can understand to an extent SJU fans rather watching on TV because SHU is heavily favored, although SJU is playing the better game right now, but Seton Hall fans really need to show up for this team. This is a must win game for Seton Hall if they want to dance, and they deserve all the support they can get from their fans.

Long story short, as a Big East fan, I hope for MUCH bigger turnouts than this for the sake of the league, ESPECIALLY between 2 schools that are located so close together. This needs to be fixed.

Why would St. John's fans go this game? It's in New Jersey and we've lost like ten in a row.

Personally speaking, from someone living on Long Island it's not a hassle to get to MSG or Carnesecca but is a hassle to go see SHU. Especially for the majority of us who use public transit.

I pay for season tickets but I'd only go see the Johnnies there if both teams were playing well and I had time.

This. You have to be from New York to understand. It's a lot more complicated than saying the Prudential Center is 15 miles from MSG.

Just Google Mapped it, it's a minimum of 1.5 hours using public transit from SJU Queens campus to Prudential. Need to take multiple methods of transportation to get there, so you're likely looking at 2 hours minimum. Also, 1 hour via car (if no traffic which there will be, and don't forget the tolls).

So it's definitely not easy getting there for most SJU fans.

Not for nothing, but I did say that I understand why SJU fans might not want to make the trip. I am also from New York and have been to several games at Prudential. I can understand if there are still issues because of all the snow we just had, but other than that, let's not make it like they make you swim to Jersey.

It's still a 3-4 hour trip with multiple public transits. Probably would be easier to drive to Philadelphia from Queens than to take public transit to Prudential. On a weeknight it's not realistic.

Wow way to not understand anything at all. Marquette's schedule hurt them so even if they won which they mostly did they hurt themselves and everyone else. Georgetowns results hurt us and the rest of the conference but still to a lesser degree than Marquette because our strength of schedule was so high. We have 2 bad losses Radford and UNC Asheville. Monmouth is 36 in the RPI. No one can call that a bad loss. And are you really calling @Uconn a bad loss?! Do you think losing @ Maryland was a bad loss too you forgot to include that. Smh

I'm not saying anything about Marquette's OOC scheduling decisions. I am saying it was just rich for a Georgetown fan to call out Marquette for hurting the conference from their OOC... when it's Georgetown that's done that.

Also, I'm not saying UConn is a bad loss.... but losing to a bubble team isn't something to be proud of.

Newark still has streets that aren't plowed. McCarter Highway was a parking lot. Getting to the game would've been an abolute nightmare for anyone coming from anywhere.

When the weather is nicer and SJU is better than they are now fans show up in force. I've been to about 3 SJU/SH games at the Rock and they have always been pretty full. The top section is always blacked out for SH games but the lower bowl is usually full.

Alright, the PRU center isn't THAT hard to get to. It's a 10-15 minute walk tops from Newark Penn Station (which serves NJ Transit and the PATH). NJT to Penn Station in NYC is a 20 minute train ride. I understand the Queens campus is somewhat far from Penn Station, but getting to Seton Hall home games is not difficult for anyone in Manhattan.
