Wednesday's Heavy Slate of Games 12-2

I am really looking forward to the Butler/UC game. Obviously, for the chance for a quality win for the league, but also to see how UC matches up against Butler. My interest is also fueled by a chance to see UC play against a familiar opponent to get an idea of how they (UC) will match up against X this year. I think this years Shootout could be a really good one, and seeing them play Butler (a familiar opponent for our staff) may help our staff find areas to exploit against UC.

Butler is going to beat Cincy and Seton Hall is going to beat GW. But then DePaul is going to lose to some alphabet soup team and then we are all going to be told that we are not allowed to talk about that game because we all have to make excuses for DePaul and their D- coach.

First, I will not even respond to NovaBall. And remember I am not guaranteeing any win with DePaul.

But DePaul is the largest Catholic University in the country at like 26,000 students. There are many passionate fans besides myself that want to DePaul to improve. There are also many fans that cannot believe that DePaul does not recruit "the way others do" well enough to keep their local players home.

The funniest part about this board to me is listening to the delusional Creighton fans talk about their program and bash DePaul.

I'm not sure where the arrogance comes from considering the program has one Sweet 16 appearance in the last 40 years. The Vietnam War was still going on the last time Creighton's basketball team made any noise in March.

When did a Creighton fan ever bash DePaul?? Also Jet isn't "bashing" them, he's just predicting an L. I expect DePaul to win tonight though.

Unfortunately, word on the street is that no real coach would come to DePaul because of the insistence that Billy Garrett Sr stay on the coaching staff. But now that they hired Leitao, we keep hearing the excuse that the players are no good. So which is it? Was Billy Garrett good, and that is why DePaul insisted on hiring a coach who would keep the golden boy happy? Or is Billy Garrett not good? And if Billy Garrett is not good, why did DePaul settle for a lousy coach in order to keep him happy?

Just makes no sense. So much promise and potential with DePaul, but so poorly run and no sign of things improving.

Billy Garrett is good but not great and if it took firing his dad to get a good coach then you fire his dad and deal with him leaving. The kid only has like 2 years of eligibility left anyway.

CPS coaches are an extremely vengeful tight knit bunch. I can't remember the whole story but I know Depaul got shut out from them before and so has UofI in the past. If they did throw out Garret sr it's more than likely he'd hold enough power to completely turn off an entire generation of city recruits from going to Depaul and Depaul has enough trouble keeping kids home without them being told by their coaches that they shouldn't go there.

But those players aren't going there now. Thats like saying if i fire this guy then the supermodels who aren't having sex with me will stop having sex with me.
