Reynolds 9.9 ppg 6.1 rpg in 20 minutes

I think also something that was considered was that Reynolds is only a Junior while Ochefu is a Senior. That they figure Reynolds will have a bigger jump this year compared to Ochefu.

Really? With Pinkston gone who do you think is getting his shots/paint touches? Ochefu has improved significantly every year, but he won't this year? Ok, stever.

stever20 wrote:I think also something that may have come into play was their performance against each other last year in the 3 games-
Reynolds 42 pts 15 reb
Ochefu 20 pts 21 reb

Pretty lopsided there.

Except for the pesky little fact that Ochefu was guarding Stainbrook and Pinkston was guarding Reynolds and vice versa, but don't let that get in your way or anything. No mention of Ochefu's match-ups with Delgado, DeRosiers, or Obekpa? That's right, they don't support your conclusion, so they're disregarded or ignored.

stever20 wrote:Also you have the roles. Ochefu is never going to be a huge cog in Nova's system. Reynolds should get a lot more this year with Xavier with Stainback gone.

This is laughable, Ochefu will get 12-15 shots a game this year with Pinkston gone and him being a senior. I'll cite Mouph Yarou, James Bell, Dante Cunningham, and Will Sheridan as players who took a big jump from their junior seasons to senior seasons and became a major focus on offense after being an afterthought prior years.

This isn't meant as a shot at Reynolds, he is definitely 1st team BE worthy. If they went with a typical 2 guard, 1 wing, 2 post player line-up both Ochefu and Reynolds would be the obvious choices for those spots. But they went with 4 guards and 1 big line-up, somebody deserving was going to get snubbed.

Stever isn't Reynolds like 23 already? Most jumps happen because kids mature physically from late teens into their 20's. Pretty sure Reynolds has already peaked in that department. Either way he is older than Ochefu so there goes that theory that the younger kid has more upside.

They both are very good players and they'll get to go at it again this year. As a Nova fan I'd take Ochefu and I'm sure the X fans would take Reynolds.

Honestly don't see what difference it makes. They were going to be 1,2 anyway, and could have been 1 vote. Reynolds may have peaked physically, but certainly not as a college bb player. He needs a big season to get in the 1st round. In order for that to happen, he just needs to stay on the floor. Mack may have his hands full with that one.

Don't know who will get the nod and they will both have good seasons, but in terms of talent, Reynolds is way better. If Reynolds puts it together he will easily be there. Ochefu is just a solid big man. But a very good one to have and he is very good within novas game plan. He doesn't really have star potential but Reynolds does if he puts it together. Just my opinion.

And PS, I think it's a good thing that novas system offensively and defensively makes players who aren't off the charts talented look so good. Talent wise, Ryan Arcidiacono didn't deserve any part of that player of the year award. Sir Dominic Pointer, Darrun Hilliard, and LaDontae Henton are all more talented players and played great last year. But novas system made Arch look much better because he executed and for the most part hit shots. That's the sign of great coaching, when good players look great in the implemented system. So I think when it comes to talent, atheltisicim, and NBA potential, Reynolds has Ochefu beat. But with how well Ochefu can execute in novas system, Ochefu might end up getting the first team nod.

F/C LJ PeaK??? WTF
Daniel Ochefu on the 1st team is also laughable.

In what way is having Ochefu on the list "laughable?

I posted this before...I used stats per 40 mins so we weren't comparing apples to oranges. I gave the top player in each category 6 pts, 2nd person got 5, 3=4, down to 6 = 1. So he is the top returning post player in pts per 40, rebs per 40, assts per 40, and FG% per 40 and is 2nd in Blocks. Yeah, he sucks.

PLAYER.........Pts / 40.......Reb / 40 ...........Asst / 40........Blocks / 40.........FG %............PTS.
Ochefu...........15.3.............14.2..................2.5............ 2.3...............0.644.............25
Smith.............21.1.............11.3..................2.3............ 1.4 ..............0.621.............21
Stainbrook.......18.4.............10.3..................3.6.............0.9...............0.613.............18
Delgado..........13.2.............13.9..................1.3.............1.6...............0.555.............14
Fisher............15.0.............. 6.6..................1.2.............3.0...............0.609.............13
DeRosiers........10.7..............7.0...................1.3.............4.0...............0.449.............12

So what's "laughable" about the best returning big man, from the best returning team, being voted onto the first team again?

BOOM! DROPS MIC!

In all seriousness though, not going to get into a pissing match with anybody but Jay Wright has said the offense will run through Ochefu a lot more this year. Ochefu will be a first team Big East player by season's end.

The mic dropped when Senior Ochefu was left off the 1st Team list by the coaches whom all except 1 have to game plan against him.
