I do, thats why i know this idea of just cheap TV is never going to happen. All those shows everyone loves costs money to make and the people making them aren't doing it for the love of it. They need to be paid competitive wages.

Everyone thinks that if ala carte comes to pass that all of their channels and shows will be the same and no drop off will occur. It's a fantasy world where people are actively pushing to pay more for less. Streaming will just be turned into what we have now but instead of cable it's through an internet signal. They already started putting commercials in shows on streaming sites.

I would have no problem paying more for my cable bill if it guaranteed me the Reality TV would go away. There is a lot of garbage on TV. Lots. Bleh. My tolerance for anything but sports on CATV is pretty close to nil these days. We watch a lot of Netflix in our house.

Why would you want to pay more money to get rid of channels? I would rather pay less and skip over the channels I don't care about.

Reality TV is cheap to make. So if those who make TV content start to lose money expect to see more reality TV.

I don't think it's about cost. It's about value. I would rather pay to get more of what I like - say more Big East content - and stop paying for things I just plan don't use.

I did not use 99% of my cable stations. I was paying an outrageous amount for the 1%. I cut the cord.

The same reason I pay for Pandora. So I don't have to be subjected to the stuff I don't want - commercials on Pandora, Reality TV and other assorted garbage on television. There is value to me in the form of $$$ if I had 30-40 channels to surf through that had "good" content as opposed to the 300+ I have now with questionable content.

The bigger challenge is who defines "good"? I despise reality TV but apparently enough people watch it so it yields profitable content for the networks which show it. I think if there were limited slots available, the over all quality of content would go up but what do I know. Wishful thinking because it won't happen but I guess we're sort of getting there in a roundabout way with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

My family uses Netflix far more than I expected and it isn't for movies. It is almost all TV series. The ability to watch 2-3 shows in succession without commercials is hugely appealing.

How do u watch Big East basketball? From what i know, none of the streaming programs offer fs1. The only other option are illegal online streams but the quality is poor.

I watch them on my iPad or iPhone with FSGO when I am not at home. It works well. Sometimes the stream was so-so but that was usually more a function of the Internet service I was using than the stream itself. Last year when Fox and AT&T had their little pissing contest about NASCAR and BigEast Hoops I used a non-AT&T Uverse account to authenticate the FSGO App. If you don't have something which will authenticate then the FSGO app is a non-starter.

Outside the US FSGO is a nonstarter. No FS1 OConus. 2nd rate streaming is it for now.
Hope Fox puts FS1 in Latam.

I, like Redman, work in the media industry. There is 0% chance of TV or Radio going away anytime soon. Pandora has yet to make a profit, the ad/subscription model just doesn't work in its present form.

Will content move to a streaming model, yes. How fast? I think it's been proven to be moving at a snails pace. The FCC will NOT let cable companies go ala carte, and it's a bad idea anyway (I won't say NEVER, though).

Like Redman said, you won't be able to pay for FS1 and FS2 without paying for FX, FXX, Fox News, the main Fox Network feed, etc. They just won't let you and prices will actually INCREASE. If you wanted ESPN, they would charge you for all of the Disney-owned channels - probably somewhere in the $20 range per month. Fox networks will then charge you another $20, Netflix will seize the opportunity and go to $20, NBC-Comcast, CBS, and the snowball mounts. Now imagine all those auto-charges on your checking account.

It's actually in a sports fans interest (and the general American consumer) that the FCC not allow ala carte satellite and cable programming. Many people who pay for Bravo, FX, ABC Family, WE, etc are actually helping pay sports rights fees now.

Usually to authenticate, you need to have some sort of cable subscription....unless you use someone elses?
