Get 'r done Bulldogs!

On a side note, looks like X is about to pick up a commitment from a center called Kentrevious Jones who is virtually off the radar. Not sure what to think about this one, guess they are just hedging their bets if they miss out on Sterling Manley and/or Levi Stockard. Also, he is huge. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3WXXGxgfQA

Kind of reminds me of Stainbrook, though from that video he doesn't look quite as skilled. Could be more bouncy if he leans up, but I don't know if that'll be the goal of Xavier's coaching staff since Stainbrook was still effective despite not having great muscle definition. Looks like conditioning could be an issue if he doesn't.

Regardless if Butler lands Wabissa Bede (and it doesn't look like they will right now), this will end up being a top 25ish class and by far the best class on paper Butler has assembled in its history. With its 2016 and 2017 classes, it looks like Butler might be able to avoid trying to get it done with bandaids and duct tape in the transfer market as they've had to the past couple of seasons. Holtmann is earning that paycheck, hopefully it's big enough that he doesn't get the itch to leave anytime soon.

interesting- from ESPN's post about him...
While the Bulldogs do have another scholarship open for next year, it remains to be seen if they'll use it on another player out of the high school ranks and may opt to hold it in the event an impact spring transfer becomes available.

I wonder if that's probably more and more true. I mean, the spring transfer situation is becoming bigger and bigger each spring.

There are six Big East classes in the first 27 per 24/7.

All I'm saying is that 3 of those 6- Creighton, Marquette, and Providence- would need to get at least 1 more player to finish just in the top 50. And even the top ones- Butler and Xavier- would need to get more to just finish in the top 25. You say why? Well 31 of the top 50 guys are still available. As the schools like Kansas, Kentucky, Duke, and Michigan St get theirs- they will catapult quickly.

just look last week vs now
#7 Xavier now 9
#14 Villanova now 18
#18 Butler now 6
#19 Creighton now 22
#22 Marquette now 25
#24 Providence now 27
#45 Seton Hall now 52
#47 St John's now 54

even now it's extremely fluid.

I personally see no reason for a school to 'hold a scholarship for a spring transfer'. It is highly likely that the school will lose a player via the transfer, opening up a schollie. It is against the norm if a school doesn't have at least one transfer every year. More likely the norm is a couple of guys bailing.

Congrats to Butler. Great pickup in No. 83 SF Christian David. Very good player with great upside. Jays wanted him badly. The Bulldogs firmly in the Top10 recruiting classes... and should finish in the top 25 when the smoke clears. Great work Butler.

The 2017 class is good in that we're getting more top 100 guys. But I'm sorry- just because we're loading up on guys in the 101 and up realm- doesn't mean this class is anywhere near the 2014 class. 15 top 100 guys is pretty damn impressive.

Straw man.

Nobody here said the 2017 class is currently close to the 2014 class. We are assuming that we haven't stopped recruiting and will finish with at least a few more 4/5 star recruits. A concept you haven't understood since this thread was started.

I have no problem saying we'll get a few more. But I think odds aren't in our favor of having the best class yet. That seems like 2014 will still take the cake.

I think this is also kind of an opinion thing. I may favor top 100 more, you may favor just overall depth more.

We are still in on 3 top 100 recruits with one scholarship left to fill. I'm not sure why you are arguing this if you don't have a grasp on the number of scholarships and recruits each school is in on.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
