Hilarious. Temple loses by 27 at home yet beats the two teams that AAC fans are counting on for bids. Priceless.

Wow Cinci is almost like DePaul in that they play everyone tough and then blow it at the end. Keep on beating them up Temple! LOL!

I've been saying this for years, Mick Cronin is a horrific Coach of offense. If you don't believe me, just go back and watch the last 4 possessions of Cincinnati in the SMU game. Lousy schematics, bad shots and a 7 point lead evaporates into a 2 point loss.

SucKS is now 89 RPI with not many chances for good wins. Yep, Juan Bid is knocking at the door of the AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAC.

what's going to be interesting if they go into the AAC tourney as projected right now...
Cincy 43
UConn 53

If Cincy/UConn make the conference final- both should get in at that point. The 2 Conference tourney wins- including one over a top 100 team in the SF most likely- would be huge.

Also the fact that both are in the top 35 in Ken Pom is huge. Advanced metrics meaning a lot now more than ever before. See last year.

Temple and SMU are just killing any chances the AAC has at getting an at-large bid.

You can say the AAC had a good year in football for a G5 conference (they did). You can say their basketball recruiting for a few schools in doing well, and that the lower tier schools aren't recruiting as poorly as they were previously. But it is an undeniable truth that the AAC is doing absolutely abysmal in basketball this year. SMU doesn't count because they cheated to get where they're at, aren't eligible, and will tank in future years.

The highest RPI is Temple at 76. Tulsa is second at 84. Cincinnati and Connecticut are at 94 and 98! Those teams would be considered bad losses as of today.

I have no idea why you're expecting the UC schools to magically jump 50 spots in the RPI as that would require dominating the conference which they haven't done.

As for Kenpom, 2 things: 1. don't they factor in the last two years or so? (I could be wrong about this but I think they also count last year's results which will have no meaning when the teams are selected in March). 2. advanced metrics are mostly used for SEEDING. It's very difficult to make the tournament if you're not top 50 in RPI.

I wouldn't say that they are doing absolutely abysmal. They are much better than last year. Already won 6 more D1 games than last year, with a few more OOC games left....

RPI's- if they are in the top 100, they aren't bad losses. It's when teams are over 100 that it becomes bad losses....

As far as Cincy/UConn- they're going to make a move because for one their own winning percentages will go up. Also will be adding decent records to their opponents records. take tonight- Memphis/UConn. UConn RPI record is 8-4.4. Memphis is 6.6-5.2. Also something to remember a lot of the smaller conference teams are playing in conference now and falling off in RPI. So they are going to make a move. If they get to 12-6 that gets them to 22-9 with a top 80 SOS. That's a pretty good recipe to get in the tourney(especially if they both meet in the final to get to 24-10 with probably then a top 75 schedule).

Advanced metrics have a huge part in selection as well as seeding. Last year Temple didn't make the tourney because of Ken Pom. They were 35 RPI but 70 in Ken Pom. Same with Colorado St. Meanwhile teams like UCLA and Indiana made it.

About UConn/Cincy. Just look at the RPI's in conference before and after tonights game...
before tonight
SMU 6/6
Hou 129/125
UCF 218/219
Tem 84/82
Mem 117/115
Con 100/77
Cin 92/88
Tul 69/64
ECU 187/198
Tulane 260/254
USF 232/230

UConn jumped 23 spots by beating Memphis at home. Also- not sure where you got Tulsa at 84- but they are at 64 now.

but pretty darn easy to see UConn able to jump up 30 more spots pretty easily. I mean heck, a win @ SMU may do that by itself quite frankly. Or even next week they play @ Tulsa and @ Houston. Win both games, and they're probably pushing top 50 already.
