^It's painstakingly obvious. The problem is now a political one within the SJU hierarchy. Does the new AD from Duke take charge and make changes? Will they keep Mullin around because of his mythological stature as a player 35 yrs ago? If the coaching staff remains status quo that will tell us just how small-time this program still is.

ChestRockwell, your sentiment is popular among SJ fans don't let 1 or 2 random fans fool you. The fanbase is split 70/30. 70% being ones like me that knows it won't work with this staff and horrible recruiting which is just transfers and JUCO's since we can't recruit HS.....and 30% being fans who watched Mullin as a player and can't let their emotional connection and nostalgia aside for facts and results.

St. John's has no inside game. When they cool off with 3 pointers they play below average. Game after game they got off to a great start with 3 point shooting and played terrible the rest of the game. I don't see Mullin getting tough with his players. They don't play with any discipline. St. John's players look like wimps compared to other teams. Mullin should get a graduate transfer big man. It really hurt losing Tariq Owens.

Would be nice if Mullin stepped aside and became a recruiter and worked on player development. Mullin is 56 or 57, how many years before he retires ? He should step aside and concentrate on recruiting and player development. a nice part time job for him.

Yeah, what the staff is doing clearly isn't working. We've known this for years now.

As I've said, of course I wanted to beat ASU, but since we lost this was exactly how we needed to lose. Mullin is way too stubborn/arrogant to change on his own. We needed to be clearly outmatched.

The stats don't lie, we have lost 5/6 to finish the year. We have been a very bad team for a solid month now and we all know it.

People generally don't change and Mullin is one of those people. For that reason, he either needs to step down or get a completely new staff. No other solutions would work. Expect a lot of players to transfer out of the program within the next couple weeks. Can't say I'd blame any of them.

The arguments against Mullin also work for McDermott
What the CU staff is doing clearly isn't working. We've known this for 9 years now.
Mac is way too stubborn/arrogant to change on his own.
The stats don't lie, we have been a very mediocre team for the last 6 years and we all know it. Can't win the Big games, team chokes in close games and in the clutch, no championships, double digit losses annually, and no NCAA runs.

It isn't likely the AD will fire him as a matter of cause - close relationship. Maybe external forces will have an impact (FBI Investigations)

Expecting a 10th place finish and will be shocked if we do any better next year. Matt A our only recruiter is probably leaving for Nebraska with Hoiberg and Mullin & Mitch will continue to get paid for absolutely no effort. Mullin & Mitch are doing something with the GS Warriors instead of recruiting right now. We create our own "bad luck" by making the dumbest decisions in the Big East and probably all of major college hoops.

Recruiting has been abysmal, and their player retention has been even worse.

In the 2015 class they had Lovett, Yakwe, Mussina, Sima, Ellison, and Williams. Every single guy left the program. In 2016 they got Ponds, Ahmed, Lawerence and Frudenberg. 2 of 4 left. In 2017 they got Trimble, Wilson, and Boubacar. Only Trimble stayed. The 2018 class is trash outside of Figeroia.

I know transfers happen and no team is immune but St John's roster has been a revolving door. You are not going to build culture and an identity as a program when no one stays.

What was the culture under Lou Carnesecca like?

Though he's 94, could he sit down with Chris - or some with a clue - and paint a picture of a better course of action to take?

Mullin is 57, he should step down and become the schools recruiter ( with Matt ) and concentrate on player development. How many more years do you think he'll coach ? He's not the long term solution .
