Though Gumby managed to get us well focused on women's volleyball, I want to see X's golf and tennis teams take another step. We have 2 PGA Tour pros active right now, and Cincinnati is a solid tennis town.

I like how X's soccer and baseball teams are progressing (NCAA level). Get the country club sports under control and move forward.

I probably could have landed a Track scholarship if Creighton had a team. I was fast back in my glory days.

Problem is, I hated running.

Because of the national growing popularity, I would say soccer. But here's a question for those who know the game: where would you place college soccer in terms of quality of play compared to various levels of professional or international soccer? Is it a "good" product?

College soccer's biggest issue as far as quality is that true pro prospects have little reason to play college soccer instead of with a pro club's academy. Sure, they get the college education, but at the trade off of severely decreased soccer development compared to what they'd get with a 2nd or 3rd division club in Europe or a top flight club's youth team.

It's an extreme example, but look at Christian Pulisic. He signed on to pay with the Borussia Dortmund U-17 squad at 16 years old. If it was like basketball, he'd be the most highly sought after 5* recruit (only comparing to other Americans for sake of the example). But with the structure of pro soccer, he'd be nowhere close to where he is today even if he did just a 1 and done year at the best soccer school in the country. Soccer's arms race has pro clubs signing kids so young that they can get paid to play before it's even time to consider college and with much better coaching/development.
