Also, for the actual 8 games, it's projected 4-4.
wins-
Nova over Purdue
Georgetown over Maryland
Butler over Northwestern
DePaul over Rutgers

losses-
Wisconsin over Creighton
Iowa over Seton Hall
Ohio St over Providence
Minnesota over St John's.

I could see the REDMEN over Minny. First road test for the young team.
First tonight though, beat Binghamton then look to Minny.

It's not accidental that Michigan State hasn't participated in the Gavitt Games once, and that Rutgers has participated in it twice. It's also intentional that Indiana, Purdue, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin and Ohio State each have only played once. It is what it is. The Big East needs the Gavitt Games more than the B1G does, and the B1G is simply protecting itself because it has more to lose in this arrangement than the Big East.

Michigan State already plays a gauntlet of a pre-B1G schedule, and the B1G won't throw out Indiana, Purdue, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Ohio State annually just to create exciting matchups. In a perfect world, we would never schedule Penn State, nor would we ever schedule Rutgers nor Nebraska. Northwestern is also a tough pill to swallow too, but at least they have improved the past few seasons under Collins. Minnesota has also struggled in recent years under little Pitino.

Personally, I am shocked that we got Maryland twice against Georgetown.

Bottom line, are we getting ideal matchups? No, but the Big East has a scheduling agreement with the B1G - and that in itself is a big asset. We just need to take care of business and win the series.

In the 8 years, only 8 Big Ten Teams will play in there 5 times. Everyone has to play 4. So all those that you are saying have been in only once- that's what you would expect from a numbers perspective- every other year. It's not dodging, it's the fact that 6 teams miss each year.

I get MSU not playing this year after playing in Hawaii and then the Champions Classic. They'll be in next year I'd expect(almost have to be).

We get 3 BG1 this year.
Minny, MSU, and PSU

Usually I'd give SJU no chance vs. MSU, but with their 2 bigs hurt, I do.

Hopefully Yakwe and Sima soph and hold their own vs. Briggs.
Our guards Not worried about Lovett at all. Very mature.

Moose looked good friday at his natural position 5-6 from 3.
Ellison looks much improved from last year, and looks confident.
Ponds had very solid #s.

Tonight Binghamton is much better then cookman, lets see how the youngsters play tonight.

If Johnnies win tonight then I'll start to feel pretty confident about our odds vs Minnesota.

Last time we played Minnesota (2 years ago) we won and it helped get us to the Tournament.

GOOD TIMES (plays #1 and #2 are two of my favorite from that year).

Jay Wright will outcoach Matt Painter in his sleep and then he'll drink him under the table. Excellent test but Nova is too good of a team.

Painter is a mid-pack Big Ten coach at best. His teams consistently choke when it matters.

Not gonna lie, that Sequoia they have in the middle gave us fits. What a monster. It was interesting to see how JW combatted him. First he had Hart go right at him with drives to induce fouls. Got him out early. It also may give some glimpses into how he intends to use Paschall this year. In the 2nd H when we could not stop that tree inside, Jay went to Paschall at the 5 who proceeded to float out to the 3 point line on offense and drain (2) 3 pointers. I think Jay realized we'd concede 2's but make them pay with 3's. Good chess match for sure.

Paschall gives us some interesting flexibility when he plays the 5. Booth, Hart, Jenkins, Bridges and Paschall as the "lineup of death." Lots of firepower from each player from every spot on the court. Would love to see that 5 go up against Sumner, Miles D, JPM, Blueitt and either Gaston or Bernard for a few minutes.

Either way a win in a hostile environment when Jenkins shot poorly and Brunson seemed off his game a bit. I'll take it.

First view of the Johnnies last night. Reminded me a lot of SHU circa 2014-15. You can see the raw talent. I think you guys can expect extreme highs and some head scratching lows but if they stick together that team will be a force in time. You'll need patience as they find themselves and figure out how to play the game together, but also expect a few unexpected scalps along the way. Just hope it's not us any time soon.
