The Big East HAS struggled in the tourney before this year. You can act like it's a continuation of the 2007-11 run- but the media sure as hell doesn't see it like that-
And I wasn't the one who made the comment. Jeff Goodman did. I'm sorry but I totally get where he's coming from. The first 2 years, the NBE didn't do anything in the tourney. You can not like it or not- but that is reality. Do you really think the NBE had been taken seriously before this year? When had 4 sweet 16 seeds and only got 1 sweet 16 team(who wasn't a top 4 seed even).
A lot of folks here play the victim role so much..... If anyone says anything bad about the Big East, it's a hack job or they're a douche bag. Give me a flipping break. In a way it's made their comments now sweeter to me because the Big East went out and earned the respect. Not handed anything.

Here's the thing Stever...
If you play that card then the Pac-12 has exactly ZERO FF's in that span. ZERO. UCLA (2x) was 2007-2008. You have said here on multiple occasions that it is "all about March." If doing well in March means national relevancy, then you can't tell me that Butlers two FF runs have already been forgotten or that the media thinks this is Jay W's first FF. They remember 7 years ago. Butler was the embodiment of being a March Cinderella. No one forgets that.
The almighty ACC went 4 years in a row 2011-2014 without a single FF member. That is a longer stretch than his new conference has gone. Did anyone during that span ever say that the ACC was a "joke" or irrelevant. No one questioned them a single bit. So there's goes that argument. The Pac-12 have now gone 8 consecutive seasons without a single FF team. Yet the media slobbers over Sean Miller and AZ and the committee sends most of the league to the tourney. And then they do what they always do: flame out. If Nova had done what AZ did this year, or if we had gotten 7 bids and promptly crapped the bed this year, ESPN would have a two part story, with a links to their "Requiem for the Big East" 30 for 30 embedded. Kansas has been a 1, 2 & 2 seed the past 3 years and has less tourney wins than Nova. I'm not hearing the same vitriol towards Bill "2 for 8 in the E*" Self," that I did Jay. The fact is that you, like many others, swallowed the bait, hook and half the rod on this negative anti-BE narrative.
And yes, the media does give a "rip" about G'town. That's why G'town, despite their recent struggles, is viewed universally as a national brand. They've made four FF's in 30 years. That's called relevance. Everyone still refers to Indiana as a blue blood and yet they have been in less FF's over that same span (and the same # as Nova BTW). Another inconvenient truth. Also name me an ACC school not named Duke or UNC that has been relevant at all consistently?
Here's the problem. You seem to gloat in the fact about how we have not competed with the P5 and then point to data that shows UNC, Duke, UK, Kansas or Mich St. and then give every other team in those conferences a complete free pass. WE ARE NOT COMPETING WITH THOSE SCHOOLS. We are competing with AZ, and Oregon and Purdue and Texas and WVU and Ohio St. &...(name any other SEC team), etc. And to be singled out as a conference that "is not taken seriously" is an agenda-driven headline that has been hammered down everyone throats and was beginning to stick. That is why I presented the original post.

On Saturday, Villanova earned a Final Four bid, beating Kansas.
Minutes later, the immediate first reaction by ESPN was to tweet out something incorrect about Villanova being the only Big East team in 8 years to make a Final Four, with the other BE F4 teams being in the ACC. First of all, they ignored Butler's 2 Final Fours. Secondly, they (ESPN) cherry-picked the 8 year thing.
The key in all this is that the first reaction by ESPN to Villanova's F4 this year wasn't a congratulatory tweet, but instead was a dickhead blurb from a network that's filled with talentless Syracuse Communications majors that wants us dead. Rather than bending over and taking ESPN's bullsh--, we counter ESPN's lies with the truth, and you call that "playing the victim".

Here's the tweet:
Nova is the 8th Big East team to make the Final Four in the last 8 years.
It is the only one still in the Big East.
so lets look
Villanova 2009, 16
West Virginia 2010
UConn 2009,2011
Louisville 2012,13
Syracuse 2013
so what is factually incorrect about it? The only beef I have with it is that it's either 2 of 8 teams or 1 of 5 programs. It's not 1 of 8.
Regarding Butler, Butler wasn't in the Big East when they made the final 4. I looked at the ESPN twitter and I see nothing with them talking about # of ACC teams making FF or anything like that.
