I don't think it's a lock at all that Wright/Mack get it. I think Willard may be the favorite now quite frankly....

If Holtmann didn't win it last year after finishing in a tie for 2nd after getting picked 7th last year with far less talent (on paper) as what Willard has, then Willard isn't winning it this year. Award will go to Wright because he won the league unless the Big East Coaches (who really don't care about taking a closer look on who they should vote for in these awards) suddenly have changed their voting criteria.

Wright will win COY
Someone from Nova (most likely Hart, but who really knows) will win POY

Only awards really up for grabs will be ROY and DPOY.

That said, I think he's one of the worst coaches in the league.

Brings up an interesting question for the board...

Your coach leaves tomorrow.
You can hand pick one of the other conference coaches to replace him. Who do you choose?
What one coach would you absolutely not want under any circumstance?

I'd probably pick either Mack or Cooley. Cooley seems to be a very good recruiter; not sure yet about his X's and O's.

I don't want Willard or JTIII. Not a fan of Willard and JTIII's style of play would drive me nuts.

Before this year, I would have said Cooley in a minute for who I would want. But this year is kind of concerning.
I'd probably say Mullin as the guy I wouldn't want. It's tough dealing with a legend like he is- just look at the situation with Georgetown.....

The only two real choices for coach of the year is either Mack or Willard and I think Mack gets the nod. Player of the year is going to be a tough call. Not sure who should get it.

It's got to be Mack. I'm looking as objectively as I can. I think he may end up national coach of the year, but he took an unranked team and has had them in the top ten all year. Willard has positioned Seton Hall to make the tournament, but they are quite aways away from what X has accomplished this year. How is it not Mack's to lose? One game does not the season make.

But in conference play, Xavier is only 1 game better than SH. X was picked to finish 4th. SH 7th. Willard has taken a team that folks thought would be pretty darn bad, and they're going to be in the tourney easily, with quite possibly a top 4-5 seed even.

Mack took a pre-season 39th to 5th. Beat #1 team in nation. Went 12-0 in OOC. Easy choice.
