Great thread!

Hahaha those guys suck!

When they go after Pope Francis you know we've earned national street cred. Jealousy (and rampant bigotry) is surely the best compliment we can get.

What Pitt fans also conveniently forget is that Xavier knocked them out of the NCAA in 2010 in Milwaukee- setting up the classic OT game between X and KState in the Sweet 16.

Nova knocked them out in 2009 in route to a Nova FF and Butler knocked them out in route to 2011 on their way to the NC game.

Beautiful. No wonder they're so cranky.

New We dont have enough football support, however, basketball is king in the Big East and the Big East will always be a top 3 basketball conference with Villanova in the drivers seat in the conference every year vying for a protected seed. Pitt will always be mediocre and below in both FB and Basketball. I would take our situation any day of the week and twice on Sunday!

luvin' the confidence/arrogance...drippin' like sweat from a construction workers brow, in July.

Luv it.

Pitt's greatest highlight is a dunk in a meaningless February game in 1988 against an 8th place Big East team.

Each of the original 9 BE teams made at least one Elite-8 from 1980 thru 1990, except Pitt, which didn't even make a Sweet-16 out of the Big East til 2002.

They blew a 3 seed in 87.
They blew a 2 seed in 88.
Another year they lost to Ball State.
Another year they got hammered by Karl Malone's Louisiana Tech.
In 93 they were ice cold but were gifted a bid over PC and against got smoked.

This was in the Paul Evans era, when every March Pitt would have me throwing sh-t at the TV.
The guy was a crusty, gruff Paul Giamatti lookalike, who made his name on David Robinson's coattails and Boeheim's annual nosedive, which in this case was in 86.

Evans had a lot of talent, with future Knick Charles Smith and Jerome Lane, and Sean Miller was there, Demetrious Gore was good. But Evans lost the locker room and Pitt underachieved every year.

Ok, i'm glad i got that off my chest...!
