Hasn't John Thompson made the final four mush more recently than the 1980's?

#nickvanexelwasalongtimeago

Speaking of nick van ex'ed and the days where the cincinatti thugginses were respectable, did you know his son recently got hit with a 60 year sentence for murdering his friend? I am sure the life lessons thugginses gave van excel in developing him as a man went a long way in helping nick be a good father and role model for his murderer son.

Would now be a good time to point out that police horses in Cincinnati are much safer these days?

Are my dogs safe too?

Xavier University basketball player Dedrick Finn is free on bond after he was arrested for stealing a dog.
Finn pleaded not guilty Wednesday morning to a theft charge.
Finn, a senior at Xavier, is one of the team's star players. As of Wednesday afternoon, Finn has not been suspended from school or from the team.
He's scheduled to be back in court November 28.

So question to GTown fans, when is it enough to can JT3? He seems like a flat out bad coach. Nepotism has ruined a many business and I don't see why basketball teams would be any different.

In my opinion it's going to take a lot to get rid of JT3. Like a period of 4-5 bad seasons.

JT3 needs to play more to his personel than his system. Georgetown just seems so predictable on offense. Mack seems to have figured them out, Xavier is 4-1 against them since joining the Big East.

The only game that Georgetown won Starks and DSR didn't miss.

I don't think the system is the problem. I think back to that 2007 run and the games against BC and unc to advance to the final four, and how the team stayed within the system, stayed patient, and it worked very well. They have also won a lot of games using that system.

Where I get frustrated is sometimes it looks like the kids are thinking too much and trying to apply the formula of the system instead of just playing basketball and letting their instincts and what they learned In practice control their decision making. They don't seem loose and comfortable at the times when they struggle.

Although I have no idea what happened against radford. How do you let up 80+ to a team like that?

Well, part of 80+ points was game going to double overtime. Only 64 points in regulation. 82 points in 50 minutes is only 66 points in regulation- that's actually not bad....

But as far as systems- times change. As a coach, you need to do one of 2 things. Either fit the system to the kids you have, or recruit kids to fit the system. You just can't recruit the best kids, and try to just fit them into the system.

Blame the system all you want, I watched that Radford game, the problem was the defense. No effort. It was the classic "we have Maryland on Tuesday so let's focus on that" and they overlooked a Radford team who had this game circled on their schedule since it was released, plus they had an incredible guard who could not miss.

As for JT3, I still think this team has a solid roster and I think they will get into the tournament. We will see if they can go deep this year though.

I was at the game on Saturday and It literally took until now to process that loss. Here is the simple truth: JT3 has a job for life at Georgetown. Until he wants to retire he will be coaching there.
