Some programs have decent little history but come on Shaka don't compare yourself to the BE. I made this chart awhile back and you can see where we stack up.

I like VCU's program and Shaka Smart.

He's looking to stir up something because he can. Looks like he got a little discussion out of it here.

Big East will play Pac-12, and the A-10 will challenge the Atlantic Sun or the America East. See, that's pretty easy.
Big East Basketball is what it's always been. Great competition nightly.
If the Atlantic 10 didn't suck, why is everyone looking for the exits?
There is a reason why the A-10 left a team in the Central Time Zone...SLU, your move.

The A10 isn't even close to the BE and we certainly should not play a challenge against them because it invites that comparrison. We need to seperate ourselves from them as much as possible. I'd love a challenge, but it has to be against one of the Power Conferences: ACC, B10, B12, P12, or SEC. We cannot schedule a challenge against A10, MVC, CUSA or AAC(Aka CUSA2). We need to challenge someone we see as equals.

Amen! We cannot go setting up challenges against mid-major conferences. Any challenge must be against one of the other five power conferences or not at all!

As a fan, I wouldn't mind seeing a couple of the better A10 teams play in Big East arenas, but there is no reason for the Big East to be playing a challenge against the A10. Nothing to be gained unfortunately.

It's the old "nothing to gain, everything to lose" situation for the Big East.

Shaka seems like a good dude and all, but he's clearly trying to put on the national agenda that the big east is afraid of the A-10. I hope we get our own challenge set up soon to put this to bed.

If I were the BE and Fox, I'd be pushing for a challenge against one of the FBS power conferences. The BE has nothing to gain by playing against a "mid major conference". I'm not saying to freeze out the individual schools, of which many are tough matchups, I'm just saying a league challenge makes little sense and makes the BE seem mid major.

The A-10 is not even mid-major at this point. No one other than possibly George Mason wants to be a part of this mess. The better schools in the A-10 are hurting their own product by playing along with this so-called conference.

Big East vs. Pac-12 is good for ratings and will put the two top Fox college basketball properties against each other.

Big East teams shouldn't play A-10 teams...it's not worth it. Hence, no game between the Ohio teams.

I think the Best Challenge would be BE vs. B10 due to lots of over lapping teams with in regions, but due to the B10 v. ACC challenge may be hard to swing. No clue when that series expires.

But:
Creighton v. Nebraska
Xavier v. Ohio St
Butler v. Indiana
Georgetown v. Maryland
DePaul v. Illinois
Villanova v. Penn St
Marquette v. Wisconsin
Seton Hall v. Rutgers
all line up pretty well of course Creighton v. Nebraska and Villanova v. Penn st would be easy wins for us and May have to Switch DePaul to being vs. Northwestern to keep that game competitive.

Providence and St. John's don't match up, but you can give them the best of the rest :

Providence v. Michigan
St. John's v. Michigan St

I don't disagree with the Creighton vs Nebraska thing. However, a lot of Creighton players over the years have come from Iowa. Several Korvers, McKinney, McDermott and Gibbs to quickly name a few. Plus we have played a few times against Iowa already. So that could easily be a matchup in a B1G challenge as well. Might be a little more intriguing for Creighton fans than just the same old, same old with Nebraska.

yeah I can see the B1G dropping the ACC challenge for the NBE, I mean why wouldn't they? It's a no brainer!
