I like the guy.

They have a daughter, Ysabella '12, who graduated from Creighton University School of Medicine in May 2016 and will begin her residency at the University of Chicago this fall.

Maybe thats why he wants to go to Chicago, be closer to his daughter.

Also this:

Under Esteban's leadership, the University announced the formation of the only private medical school in New Jersey in partnership with Hackensack University Health Network, a new College of Communication and the Arts, and a department of Catholic Studies.

Maybe DePaul wants to start up a Medical Program.

Hopefully he fires JLP and hires an Athletic Director that knows what he's doing.

Knowledgeable sources on the SHU board say that's exactly it. Nothing to do with money, he just wanted to be closer to his daughter. It's unfortunate because it's a huge loss for Seton Hall. He was a fantastic president who did a lot of good for both the academic and athletic programs of the University. He understands that the university is primarily about academics, but he understands the importance of the athletic programs to everything that goes on and was very supportive of them. One of the many upgrades that took place under his watch was a complete renovation of the athletic center - both the sections for student athletes and for the general university population - that transformed facilities at Seton Hall from a weakness into a strength.

I know this is a joke but if he could convince Simeon High School's coach for Depaul that'd be a great hire that'd make Depaul unstoppable in Chicagoland recruiting.

Her contract is officially done on June 30th of this year. There has been no word of an extension so most DePaul fan's are prying she will be officially out as AD. The new President starts July 1st so let's hope his first order of business is finding a competent AD to take over. During Ponsetto's rein of terror she has hired 3 horrible coaches and has accumulated a 20% win percentage in Big East play. It's unbelievable to think she is still around. This is why no one shows up to games. When the administration doesn't care why should the fans an alumni.

Smith publicly made it known that he was interested when JW was let go and they were searching for a new coach -they hired Purnell. Local AAU and HS coaches were not pleased with that and rumor had it they deliberately steered kids away from going to DePaul. Safe to say BGJr only came because his dad was hired as an assistant.

Hmmm, Chicago HS coach, hmmm. It is well documented, reported on, and at least local (Chicago) public knowledge that Chicago HS Sports, especially basketball, is a recruiting nightmare, rife with landmines, snares, traps, payola, politics, buyouts, etc. Nothing is open, free, and easy in Chicago, nothing!

When Purnell was hired the AAU coaches, Mac Irwin and company (Mac Irwin Fire AAU), were in the mix for the same reasons. To supposedly reopen a recruiting pipeline of city players. Mac Irwin or one of the brothers were lobbying to be an assistant for Purnell and it didn't happen. That move, if it had become reality was to save DePaul, reopen recruiting of local stars, and revitalize the defunct program.Close one can of worms only to open another.

It will be an expensive and probably unethical set of criteria if an AAU or HS coach comes aboard. Is it worth the NCAA investigation to revive the DePaul Program?
