Problem for the New Big East

Postby xu1990 » Tue Jul 16, 2013 2:17 pm

It's summer and clearly stretching for an discussion points but....somebody has to change to green or purple or.....

School Primary Colors

Xavier Blue and White
Butler Blue and White
Creighton Blue and White
Villanova Blue and White
Seton Hall Blue and White
Georgetown Blue and Grey
Marquette Blue and Gold
DePaul Blue and Red
Providence Black and White
St Johns Red and White

Seriously, this league is a going to be a little color challenged. Seemed like every team in the A-10 was some form of red/White (Temple, Umass, St Joes, Fordham) or Red/Blue (Dayton, Richmond, Duquesne). At least we had VCU, Charlotte, Bonaventure.

I think St Louis is going to have to change to St Bona hideous Brown/White to even garner consideration for expansion.

Marquette is Gold (yellow) and Blue.

Blue (dark or powder) is not our main color.

LOL actually now this makes St. Louis a shoe in.... heck we could just show up and start playing use the blue and white as camouflage. Since the league is just getting started setting up the office it might take them a while to notice... get us grandfathered in.

Better than it used to be for X in the A10, with a couple of teams nicknamed Rams...

Think about it this way: makes it easier to cheer for your fellow conferencemates.

Isn't there or wasn't there some red in Villanova's unis? A third color is nice to have.

They had maroon until ~99-00...then they switched to the light and dark blue with white (maybe with Jay's arrival in '01?). I still have a maroon 'Nova sweatshirt somewhere...

I don't think it's as bad as some people are presenting it as. When you actually look at the 'real' main color of each team's uniforms it is more diverse than you think. The blues used can be very different and are used in many different amounts and shades (i.e. Seton Hall and Georgetown look nothing similar on a court). However, it would be nice if we had an orange and/or green team in there.

Creighton - Royal Blue
Seton Hall - Royal Blue
Xavier - Navy Blue
Villanova - Navy Blue
Marquette - Yellow
Georgetown - Grey
Providence - Black
Butler - Very Very Dark Blue (way to close to black to be really called blue IMO)
St. John's - Red
DePaul - Red/Blue

PS: Though it is is sooo odd that nearly every team involves a shade of blue, while red is the most used in other major colleges and we only have 2 teams using red at all. Here's a few other leagues and their members using blue (which may be missing a few):

Big XII: can only think of Kansas (OU, TTech, Ia St, Kansas w/ red)
SEC: Ole Miss, Florida, UK, Auburn (Alabama, Georgia, TAM, Miss St, Ole Miss w/ red ).
ACC: Duke, UNC, Pitt, UVA, technically Cuse (NC St, Fla St, Boston College, Va Tech w/ red)
B1G: Michigan, Penn St, (IU, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Rutgers, Minny, OSU, Maryland w/ red).

Not an official color, but Butler's roadies are Black & White for some awful reason.
So when Butler plays at Providence, one team will be wearing White with Black trim, the other will be wearing Black with white trim.

Another interesting fact: Butler's blue used to be more royal than navy or "Butler Blue." Look at the movie "Hoosiers" - the colors there were what Butler had until the late 80's or early 90's.
