Tough injuries for PC...we still have LoVett out. Hopefully he is close. We really need to figure out why we start games so slowly and address it. Maybe we need to warm up earlier? Maybe we need to get the team hyped up more before tip? I don't know but this team ALWAYS starts slow. We cannot afford these slow starts against real teams. Great to get the W any way we can but it's very concerning we did not make a 3 pointer and Ponds has still not found his shot. We also missed about 8 or 9 easy layups which is shocking. Ahmed literally had no one around him and missed a layup directly in front of the basket uncontested. He needs to use the window on the backboard. Missing LoVett is hurting, we need him back asap.

All in all, can't complain we got the W, let's make it 10-2 and get to the real season!The one major pleasant surprise has been our defense this season. We may not be very deep but we are relentless on D and that's what's powering us to wins even when we can't make a shot. It was supposed to be the opposite: great offense, bad defense but it looks like it totally flipped. Must get Ponds to find his shot again and make the easy layups as a team if we want to do damage in conference. The defense may not be a fluke...we held Iona (averages 77 PPG) to 59 points and they are legit on offense. They also take great care of the ball normally and we forced lots of crucial turnovers. The defense is there, we just need our shots to fall now. Then we would blow teams like Iona out by 20+.
