I don't agree with our scheduling this year and I pray to god we don't have a schedule near this bad ever again.

But we won't know the impact of the schedule till the end of the year.

Who knows maybe the confidence gained will spark an over achievement and the Hoyas will emerge with a good enough BE record to get a bid despite the soft OOC schedule.

Maybe it will lead to us falling flat on our face come BE play.

Most likely we're not good enough for the tournament and it won't matter what our OOC schedule was this year in terms of making the NCAA tournament.

There are some possible PR benefits from racking up wins as casual fans do not pay attention to schedules at all. They'll see an increase in wins under Ewing and will think the ship is righted whether or not that's true. Nothing helps attendance like winning. Obviously playing the same schedule next year may dampen those gains, but it could work out. We won't know.

Yes, winning records sells tickets but no one is going to buy tickets to no name teams in buy games. That hurts the bottom line if kept up past this year.

Agree, NJ. Although, to an extent, 'hooligan makes sense, per his casual fan quote.

The thing about the casual fan is they aren't gonna attend games versus "Sister's of the Poor" and "Cream Puff University," even if Georgetown ends up with a winning record after this season. The winning record may catch the eye of the casual fan, but they'll turn out for the games versus the "name schools" or winning teams.

Casual fans aren't unsophisticated. They're just prone to hop on the bandwagon when a team they're casually following starts to win. But, the poor competition teams won't get them into the seats. Only the teams they recognize.... winning record or not.

lets take it this year though. Georgetown starts 8-0. In comes big bad Syracuse at 8-1.

I think more casual fans show up on Dec 16 for Georgetown/Syracuse like that than if Georgetown was at 4-4.
