My guess:

UNC, Oregon, Michigan St, Florida, Uconn, Texas, Portland, Georgetown
Duke, Stanford, Ohio St, Arkansas, Gonzaga, Oklahoma, Portland St, Butler

yeah it'd be those either/or combo's. I'd think your combos would be pretty much on- except Duke and UNC probably flip. Duke in the higher one and UNC in the lower one.

I put UNC in the higher one because they have closer ties to Nike, same reason Georgetown gets the nod in the higher bracket.

If Duke's the defending champion, going to be really tough to leave them out of the upper bracket.

Of course, this is assuming there would be an a and b bracket.. It could be something like

Duke, Oregon, Ohio St, Florida, Gonzaga, Texas, Portland St, Georgetown

You'll see a lot of the games in where the Wooden games were normally(would expect that tourney to be very poor next year).

Also, day after Thanksgiving isn't all that many games quite frankly for football on ESPN.

I'd expect it to be:
Thanksgiving- both brackets with games at 3,530, 9, 1130 on ESPN/ESPN2. Disney tourney on at noon first game, then the rest on like ESPNU
Friday- both brackets championship bracket semi's- 1 at 3 and 530, other at 9 and 11 30.
Saturday- consolation bracket games
Sunday- consolation games during day, title games for each bracket at 8 and 1030 or something like that.

Xavier was originally scheduled to play this tournament in 2012. Not sure what happened. Since we joined the BE, maybe it was too many BE teams.

This is correct. Butler and Xavier were going to be the A10 picks.

Probably because there weren't any A10 teams with a high enough profile to be in after Butler & Xavier left. And you can't have 3 BE teams, so someone had to be dropped.

Well, that makes sense. I bet they wish Nova was in that group.

so it was....
BE- Georgetown/UConn
A10- Xavier/Butler
ACC- UNC/ Duke
B10- Ohio St/Mich St
P12- Oregon/Stanford
B12- Texas/Oklahoma
SEC- Florida/ Arkansas
WCC- Gonzaga/Portland

So when the conference realignment occurred- UConn became AAC, Xavier/Butler moved to the BE- and for some reason Butler got to keep the slot in the tourney instead of Xavier. With Portland St added as a filler.

I believe the only A10 school that's currently with Nike is Davidson, although it's kind of hard to keep up with. I don't think Davidson was even in the A10 when they originally announced this field.

Yes. Although we've got one more step to make to catch Nova.

Xavier Men's Basketball has been a Nike program since 2001-02. It was elevated to Nike NTS Promo status in 2010, which is the highest Nike tier a men's basketball program can achieve without winning a national championship
