It would be advantageous for the BE, actually, if other major conferences already had MORE guaranteed losses for conference teams built into their schedule. The Big East doesn't want that. I hope the majority of major conferences go to 20 games. It will hurt their RPI as a conference - benefitting the Big East with only 18 games!

There is no guarantee that more conference games would equal a worse RPI. The RPI just doesn't work that way. What matters is how good your opponents are. Like I showed Marquette's RPI dropped several spots last year when they played and beat Stetson.

And I would say watch how the committee works in the next few years. Last years committee focused a lot on quality wins. I think we're kind of going back where teams with more mediocre records- but tougher schedules/good wins- will make the tourney. That IMO is the absolute biggest key to watch.

Actually it would become harder to schedule tougher opponents OOC in the event that the P5 conferences go to 20 game schedules because the P5 teams, who are most of the tougher opponents, would have fewer OOC games available. I don't see why it would be aproblem for the BE to add one more quality member, which would still keep the double round robin schedule.

Losses per se are not what matter. Bad losses matter.
