With the exception of the Final 4 a few years back, Gtown has largely disappointed IMHO. They pay JT3 a boatload. He should be delivering regular deep runs in the tourney......and he's not.

The Final 4 is now more than a few years back. Those players had been recruited by the previous coach (Esherik). JT3 hasn't done anything in March with his own recruits.

He did have some very good teams that caught bad match ups in the dance. I know that march is the ultimate measuring stick, but you can't just act like he was coaching a bunch of bubble teams.

He lost to steohen curry. He lost in hat VCU run to the final four. He lost to that fla gulf coast team. But his teams were great those years. It happens.

His teams always seem to have a lacks of uregency though.

If JT3 were to be dismissed, would they consider Patrick Ewing as a replacement? The St. Johns/Georgetown matchups would certainly carry some extra added weight, wouldn't you say?

I think the thing that's concerning is this is now if this year continues 2 years in 3 where things didn't even fall apart in the postseason- they never got there. That's the difference.

I would see how G'Town finishes out this year. They happen to be lucky that we have 4 ranked teams right now. If that holds until conference play, I think G'Town upsets lots of them. They will have 8 chances to beat ranked teams and I can easily see them winning 3-4 of those. They may have crapped the bed OOC, but getting 3-4 ranked wins and playing solid in conference could still spell NCAA tourney for them. They are also one of those random teams I can see unexpectedly winning the BET. They have so much talent and experience, and they have been so horrible lately that I feel they are due for a nice strong run just like Marquette. Marquette started off rough then really got going. Eventually, I'd hope the talent shows.

If G'Town misses the tourney this year, I'd fire JT3. You need to strike when the iron is hot, and as of right now G'Town is still a major brand in college hoops. But more seasons like the last 3-4 and that brand may really start fading. If they fire JT3 they can get a major coach still. G'Town is one of those programs that should be ranked like Nova every year while going to at least the Sweet 16 every few years. Instead, they have stayed unranked for almost the entire duration of the new formation of the conference, lost terrible OOC games to low majors while having tons of talent/experience, and the few times they do make the tourney, they exit immediately.

To me, for a strong Big East long-term, we need Nova and G'Town to be the top 2 monsters consistently being top 15 with deep runs. Nova has held up their end of the bargain in the regular season for the most part, but they have flunked in the postseason. G'Town is currently not even taking care of business in the OOC vs. the cupcakes which is scary. Even before I was a huge Johnnies fan and just casually watched the occasional college hoops game (2007, 2008 or so), if you said "Georgetown" I would think prestige, winning, and elite program. Now after several years of underwhelming disappointment, it seems to be to the point of tarnishing a bit. Hope they get it together.
