The last time Providence played Arizona was in the 1997 Elite-8 game. Arizona won in OT. The Friars had a crazy comeback from 7 or 10 down late, tying it off a ridiculous Arizona miss (block by Ruben Garces) with a lot of time still on the shot clock, followed by Jamel Thomas's 3... still one of the most exciting sequences of basketball I've ever watched. Arizona just melted in the last 4 minutes of regulation.

The refs had to be protecting some gamblers or something cuz they were horrible all afternoon, fouling out Croshere on some phantom calls. Shammgod takes a pull up jumper with under 10 seconds instead of driving cuz the refs would've called an offensive foul.

And technically we made the Final Five that year cuz we played in the late Sunday game...! ))
