Friars Men's Hockey Ranked #1...!

The defending NCAA champion Friars are #1, at the top of the latest USCHO poll.
PC started the year at #2, and we've gone 6-0 with 1 tie.
The previous #1, North Dakota, just lost to Wisconsin over the weekend.

The Friars beat Holy Cross to start the year.
Then we won and tied at Miami of Ohio (rematch of last year's quarterfinals).
We then swept Ohio State at home pretty easily.
The next weekend we took 2 more up at Colgate.

Friday night at home we play Boston University, who we of course beat in the NCAA Finals last year.
Providence under Nate Leaman has loaded up their roster with a ton of talent and a lot of firepower, including 8 NHL draft picks.
And actually a defenseman, soph Jake Walman, leads the Friars with 7 goals... kid is a regular Bobby Orr...!

Thanks Marquette... every BE team is welcome to adopt PC as its favorite hockey team, or at least 2nd favorite behind locals near UNO and Miami (O.)... at a minimum this indirectly can get nice press for the Big East.

Good luck Friars, but we in Omaha will most likely root for the hometown Mavericks (University of NE, Omaha). They just opened a new 7500 seat arena, so even non-hockey fans are excited about the season after last year's frozen four appearance.
